Naturopathic Continuing Education Requirements by State

 

Arizona

Alaska requires naturopaths to complete 30 Naturopathic Continuing Education hours every year. Out of the 30 hours, 10 must be in Pharmacology as it relates to the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease. Also, a minimum of 3 hours must be in Opioid related CME in the area of substance-use disorder or addiction related. California

Naturopathic licensees are required to obtain 60 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours every two years. Out of the 60 CEs, 20 hours must be in pharmcotherapeutics, no more than 20 hours may be in a single topic, and no more than 15 hours in naturopathic childbirth. Colorado

Naturopathic licensees are required to complete 25 hours of Naturopathic Continuing Education every year. If treating a child who is less than age eight, 3 hours of coursework or mentoring per year solely related to pediatrics. If treating a child who is less than age two, 2 additional hours of coursework or mentoring per year solely related to pediatrics, to include subject matter related to recognizing a sick infant and when to refer an infant for more intensive care. Connecticut

District of Columbia

Hawaii

Hawaii Naturopaths must complete 35 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours every odd numbered year. Out of the 35 required hours, 15 hours must be in pharmacology. Kansas

Maine

Naturopathic licensees must complete 25 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours each year. Out of the 25 hours, 7 hours must be in pharmacology. In addition, if a naturopath holds an acupuncture certification, hey must complete an additional 15 hours of CE specifically to acupuncture. Maryland

Minnesota

Naturopathic licensees are required to complete 25 hours of Naturopathic Continuing Education every year. Out of the 25 hours,5 hours must be in pharmacoptherapeutics, no more than 5 hours in practice management, and no more than 15 hours in any single subject. Montana

Naturopathic licensees in Montana are required to complete 15 Hours of Naturopathic Continuing Education every year. Out of the 15 hours, at least 5 hours must be in naturopathic physician pharmacy and if you have a childbirth specialty, 5 credits must be in obstetrics. New Hampshire

Naturopathic licensees in New Hampshire are required to complete 45 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours every three years. Out of those 45 required hours, 12 must be in pharmacology and/or pharmacognosy. Only 33 hours may be completed online. North Dakota

Oregon

Naturopathic licensees are required to complete 32 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours each year. Out of the 32 required hours, 10 of those hours must be in pharmacology and 2 hours in either medical ethics, cultural competency, or suicide intervention and prevention. Utah 

Naturopathic licensees in Utah are required to complete 48 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours every two years. Out of the 48 required hours, 20 hours must be specific to pharmacy or pharmacology as it pertains to naturopathic physician formula; a minimum of 10 of the 20 hours specific to pharmacy or pharmacology must be recognized as category 1 credit hours as established by the ACCME. Vermont

Vermont naturopaths are required to complete 30 Hours of Naturopathic Continuing Education every two years. Out of the 30 required hours, 10 hours must be in pharmacology of legend. Washington 

The state of Washington requires 20 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours per year. Alberta

Naturopathic licensees in Alberta are required to complete 40 Naturopathic Continuing Competency Hours every two years. Naturopaths must also maintain their CPR Certification every two years. For more information, visit the board website at: https://www.cnda.net/

 

Manitoba 

Naturopathic licensees in Manitoba are required to complete 40 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours every two years. Out of those 40 required hours, a minimum of 4 hours can be in Category A and 36+ hours in Category B & C. Ontario 

Naturopathic licensees in Ontario are required to complete 70 Naturopathic Continuing Education Hours over a three year cycle. 30 credits must be in Category A and includes specific requirements such as: 3 CEUs in jurisprudence, 6 CEUs in pharmacology, and 6 CEUs related to IVIT.
