Course Description
This naturopathic continuing education course will review mood disorders, hormone imbalances, and genetic causes of what cause depression to occur in the brain. In addition, a thorough review of different regions of the brain such as the hypothalamus, amygdala, etc, and others are discussed and how depression effects each of these regions. Different kinds of diagnostic tests used to evaluate the brain are also taught such as positron emission tomography and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Neurotransmitters and their role in causing depression or eliminating it are discussed in detail. This course is crucial for any naturopathic physician to understand the specific effects depression has on the brain.
